-Resignation from Bharat Rashtra Samiti

-BJP leaders Jitta Balakrishna Reddy and Yennam Srinivas Reddy also joined Congress.

Digital Desk, Hyderabad. Former Telangana minister Tummala Nageswara Rao resigned from Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Saturday. He will join the Congress party at a public meeting to be addressed by party president Mallikarjun Kharge and top leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi on Sunday. Jitta Balakrishna Reddy and Yennam Srinivas Reddy, who were recently suspended from BJP for anti-party activities, will also join the Congress party.

The membership coincides with the important meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) starting in Hyderabad on Saturday. Nageswara Rao quit BRS, a day after AICC in-charge of Telangana Manikrao Thackeray quit BRS. Had met with Revanth Reddy at his residence in Hyderabad. Last month, Revanth Reddy invited Nageswara Rao to join the Congress party. The former minister was angry with BRS after he was not given a ticket from the Palair constituency for the upcoming assembly elections. BRS has given the ticket to Kandla Upender Reddy, who was elected on a Congress ticket in 2018 but later joined BRS. Nageswara Rao was elected from Palair in the 2016 by-election on BRS ticket. In 2018, he lost to Upender Reddy. After the ticket was cut, the former minister made a big show of strength in Khammam. He told his supporters that he would contest the upcoming assembly elections. Nageswara Rao’s induction is likely to be a big boost to the party’s prospects in the undivided Khammam district. The Congress was already on a high after former Khammam MP and suspended BRS leader Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy joined the party.
