C.B.D.T. Deactivated 11.5 crore PAN cards
New Delhi, November 11 (INT): 11.5 crore PANs that are not linked to Aadhaar have been deactivated by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). It was told in a report that this information was given by CBDT in response to the question asked in RTI.
The last date for linking PAN with Aadhaar was June 30. All those people whose PAN cards were issued before July 1, 2017, had to link their PAN with Aadhaar. All PANs issued after July 1, 2017, are automatically linked to Aadhaar.
In the report, RTI activist Chandra Shekhar Gaur Quoting the reply received from the CBDT, was told that in India 70.24 crore PAN holders. Out of this, a PAN of 57.25 crores is linked to Aadhaar. 11.5 crore PAN cards have been deactivated due to not being linked to Aadhaar.
PAN can be reactivated by depositing a fine of Rs 1000 again. If the PAN card is deactivated, financial transactions of Rs 50,000 or more can be done. Apart from this, may face problems while filling I.T.R. as per RTI.
