Vijay Hazare Trophy • Kerala cricket team

New Delhi: With the help of centuries from captain Sudeep Kumar Gharami and Anustup Majumdar, Bengal defeated Gujarat by eight wickets and entered the quarter-finals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy cricket tournament. Batting first, Gujarat scored 283 runs for nine wickets with the help of a century by Priyank Panchal (101), in response to which Bengal won by scoring 286 runs for two wickets in 46 overs.

For Bengal, Sudeep Kumar made the innings by scoring an unbeaten 117 runs on 132 balls, while Majumdar played an aggressive inning of 102 not out on 88 balls. Both of them made an unbroken partnership of 209 runs for the third wicket. Bengal will face Haryana in the quarter-finals on Monday. Gujarat’s innings revolved around Panchal. Apart from them, Saurabh Chauhan contributed 53 runs and Umang Kumar contributed 65 runs. For Bengal, Suman Das and Pradipta Pramanik took two wickets each.

Kerala beats Maharashtra

In another match, with the help of centuries from opener batsman Krishna Prasad (144 runs on 137 balls) and Rohan Kunumal (120 runs on 95 balls), Kerala defeated Maharashtra by 153 runs and reached the quarter-finals. Prasad and Rohan made a partnership of 218 runs for the first wicket, which helped Kerala to score a huge score of 383 runs for four wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.

In response, the Maharashtra team was out for 230 runs in 37.4 overs. Opener batsman Om Bhosale (78) and Kaushal Tambe (50) gave Maharashtra a good start by adding 139 runs for the first wicket but its other batsmen could not get going. For Kerala, leg 2 spinner Shreyas Gopal took four wickets for 35 runs and off-spinner Visakh Chandran took three wickets for 39 runs.
